Fall is here! Take a hike during the upcoming beautiful fall weather on Arabia Mountain Trail. The beauty of this area in un-matched and you will find it easy to fall in love for a day or for a lifetime on these spectacular trails.
You can spend an afternoon, a day or a lifetime exploring the Heritage Area. Whether you’re looking for exhilarating activity or peaceful contemplation, a historical exploration or a leisurely stroll you are sure to find a way to soothe your curious soul. Here are some suggested itineraries:
If you have an hour:
- Plan a hike up Arabia Mountain.
- Take a tour of the AWARE wildlife rehabilitation facilities.
- Stroll through the soft trails at Davidson-Arabia Nature Preserve or along the PATH trail.
If you have an afternoon:
- Bike the PATH trail from Lithonia to Panola Mountain. About 24 miles roundtrip. It’s a challenge! Maps available here.
- Make an appointment to visit the Flat Rock Archives and tour a slave cemetery and former plantation.
- Visit the Monastery of the Holy Spirit and the Monastic Heritage Center.
- Take advantage of one of Panola Mountain’s guided hikes. Afternoon, Half-day and Moonlight options.
Enjoy a Festival!
There are many activities going on in this great area that enhance the Arabia Mountain area. The Stonecrest Fest on October 5th celebrates, history, culture, community, education and family fun. Highlights of this event include one of the only two National Heritage Areas in the state of Georgia…The Arabia Mountain National Heirtage Area which features the Davidson-Arabia Mountain Nature Preserve with 400 million years of plant and water life and Flat Rock Archives, a community founded by slaves where descendants still live today. In the Conyers area, enjoy the 39th Annual Olde Town Fall Festival that is scheduled for Saturday, October 19, 2019. Join the crowd for a full day of arts and craft vendors, festival food, entertainment and kid’s activities. Children’s activities, costume contests, delicious food court, live entertainment and so much more await at this annual fall tradition. Parking and admission are FREE! There are two stages of entertainment at the Olde Town Fall Festival, so plan your browsing, shopping and snacking around some great local acts on the stages of the Conyers Depot/Welcome Center and the Olde Town Pavilion (949 S.
